Sabine & Alexander Prenzel have their large building materials warehouse in 27336 Rethem, about 30 km from the Lüneburger Heide. As building material hunters, they search for, collect and sell historical materials such as wall stones, half-timbered beams, beaver tails, iron windows, doors, etc. together in elaborate manual work. In the NDR documentary bay Nora Stoewer, they organise the dismantling of an old three-storey farmhouse. The aim is to salvage it gently so that the building materials can be reused. With their team they achieve great things and save many reusable building elements in several weeks of demolition by hand, but also often parts of contemporary history such as old nails, screws, tools, wall ties. In this project, 60% of the salvaged materials can be used again for building. Through this form of resource use, the entrepreneurs contribute significantly to sustainability.
