A children's book also for adults

In keeping with the theme of "historical building materials", this book explains how an old, listed farm can be converted into a holiday farm and restored with great drawings and photos by Ferenc B. Regös and Heike Ossenkop. The narrator Rolf Toyka guides the readers through the entire book with the help of Maxi, a girl who lives on the farm. Maxi talks about how the architect plans and organises all the work and what the carpenters, painters, bricklayers and roofers have to do until such an old farm becomes a holiday idyll for the whole family.

The same authors wrote the book "Achtung, fertig, Baustelle! - How a house is planned and built", also here Rolf Toyka, Ferenc B. Regös and Heike Ossenkop took a lot of trouble to present the planning and construction of a house in an exciting way. In this book Tim tells about how his uncle Hannes, the architect, plans the construction of the house and how the house gradually takes shape.

Both books are described in great detail. From the first ideas of the architect, the explanation why a half-timbered house may not be simply demolished, up to the installation of doors and windows everything is present. If you are interested in exactly these topics, you should take a look inside.

The publishers for both books are the Academy of the Chamber of Architects and Town Planners of Hesse and the Chamber of Architects of North Rhine-Westphalia, available from Gestenberg Verlag.
